Okay, we’re going to say it. Houghton Bride served up the best presentation/show we attended this Bridal Fashion Week — and that isn’t just because designer Katherine Polk’s adorable bulldog crashed the runway (but more on that later). As you may or may not know, we basically fall over ourselves for designs that merge the gap between the worlds of RTW fashion and bridal. This most recent batch of bridal from Houghton NYC does just that. If the Spring and Fall 2015 RTW runway trends taught us anything, it’s that the 70s are back, and Polk apparently took good note.
The unmistakably urban bohemian, gypsy-inspired collection featured a caravan of 28 looks total. Every single one of which wearable for the big day — or any other day for that matter. A few of our personal favorites: patch pocket overalls in ivory French Guipure lace, a desert flower flowing silk chiffon and organza trouser and blouse set, a crocheted dress featuring crystal and sequin silk fringe, and a blouson floral gown with a laser cut petal skirt. Oh, and did we mention hair and makeup? Models flaunted incredible free-form braids (the like of which never before seen on Pinterest), anti-uppity up-dos, and surprisingly flattering pearly-white face paint all over the eyes and brow. Yep, next-level bridal beauty.
We could go on, but we’ll keep things short and sweet so you can get to the good stuff. Check out our pictures from the show (featuring an installation that just may serve as interior design inspiration for your registry as well) above, and see if you can spot Polk’s droopy-faced pup popping up here and there. Boho and bulldogs, what more could you want?
